A quick update on progress from last week. The chassis is now fully stripped and I am just finishing up any items that need fettling before it goes for powder coating. At some point in its life someone has took the oxy acetylene to the chassis (probably fitted a bigger radiator) so I fabricated a pair of patches and full penetration welded them in with the tig (this means I don't have to weld the underside)
I have put some close ups of the weld set up and also the root weld and the fill and cap weld.
while I am waiting for the frame to come back from the powder coating guy (a bit of a queue for his services) I will be blasting all the small bits with a cabinet I bought from flea bay.
cheers, Brendon.

neat work, is this the same truck your other build thread is for? if so why start another thread? i'm sure the mods can merge the 2 if it is the same truck.

Its great to get comments like this from blokes who appreciate how hard it is to get this looking decent. If I can pass on any tips or tricks just get in touch.
Cheers, Brendon.

here is this weekends progress report. Had to divert my attention to fabricate a "build frame" for an Ultima GTR chassis that is landing next week for fitting out. I also had to make a start on the doors on my spray booth I have been building.
I have designed and fabricated a rotisserie to enable the sand blasting and painting of the cab. (it is perfectly balanced and works a treat. I can stand in the windscreen area to let me paint the interior. the sunroof!!! aarrghh is coming out and this will test my body work skills as I have to re-instate the swage lines on the roof inner skin.
the chassis and all the subframes are away to powder coat in satin black this week and should get them back for an update next week.
Cheers, Brendon

Here is my weekend update. on Friday I picked the chassis and cross members up from the powder coating guy I use near me (about 300 yards away!) it looks great in satin black.
I am gutted though as I had a busy schedule trying to get my spray booth extraction finished Had to fabricate all the bloody ductwork including the square to round transitions!!
and also one of the lads has dropped his Ultima GTR chassis off for me to build (as if I am not busy enough!!)
all in all a busy weekend as usual and I am hoping to get the booth finished next weekend and then I can start on the bodywork on the truck before it goes out for bare metal blasting.
Cheers, Brendon.

Just another progress update on the C10.
Its not going as quick as I would like as I have had to restore a 95 Pontiac Bonneville pro am that had mild underside corrosion that required the full rebuild of all the suspension components as well as a load of other jobs. so now I have finally got my teeth back into the C10 and have cancelled all other work until I get this done.
the entire sheet metal has been media blasted by me (hell on earth for 5 days in a gazebo outside my unit!) and the sanded back to 120 grit (over Easter) ready for all of the minor dings and any corrosion to be addressed before I protect it with many many coats of paint.
I am going with a new motor that being built by a renowned LS engine builder (380hp fuel injected LS with custom loom to make the engine a user friendly as possible) and I have a full manual 700r4 that will be mated to it.
I will update on the colour when I have finally made my mind up.
cheers, brendon.

Quick update on my C10.
I have not been able to get at my C10 as much as I want to and have to go backwards a bit as (I am having to strengthen everything as i am dropping a big horse LS1 in the front) but in the meantime I gave my door panels over to none other than Ron Giles to work his magic (through his son Paul who I work with).
the scope was to capture monument valley at sunset and that was it. He came back and asked if I wanted to include my 65 Fairlane in the foreground and here is the result.
as both cars will not be leaving the family it just adds a little connection and personalises the truck for me.
Rons son Paul has told me this is his retirement swansong and he wont be doing any more landscape airbrush work so this adds further to the personal touch.
I am absolutely over the moon with the result and it adds more than a little extra to the truck.

Bah gum, that Ron Giles gets about considering he's a retired old man !
One month he's knocking out the signwriting on Ian Merryweather's 'Banzai' altered,
then the next he tackles a bit of airbrush and murals ! :D

Glad to hear that you like the paintwork Brendon, and it's true it will probably be my last due to eye problems
- and many thanks for the 'renumeration', it's very much appreciated and will be put to good use.

Cheers, Ron. :D

Beautiful work.

You are very fortunate to have got this paintwork done.

As is the rest of what you do as well.
