housebound for a week so good time to sort all the pics out for this project.
its been here for a bit under two years now.should be fully dry built within a month.
keep getting distracted with other projects:wanker: as you do.

this is what we started with

up on the jig.

was given pretty much a free reine with the modifications.only real spec was rover v8,no roof ,on air and a set of wheels to build round

the wheels

no idea what make they are but there 15 x 6 1/2" with 195/45/15 tyres on.
makes them 7 1/2" wide which caused a bit of headscratching as with the width of the rover they wouldnt fit the front.
did over come that small hick up later in the build

new front metal work
tacked together as it will be one piece

quarter panels!!

a little bit of cutting to add a few inches into the front

and adding in metal
i was never happy with how i done this front.it always bugged me so i changed it later in the build.

new rear panel

the reason for using all new panels was cost.there cheap as chips and would have been more expensive to repair all the old ones.
its also a lot nicer working with new steel.
panels were pretty awful lining up.
only saving grace was the seams being cut off.this alowed the panels to flow better.
gas welding the rear together

and after some hammer work and sanding

a bit of work went into the front screen area.
decided to keep full size opening as that saves having to cut down a screen at a later date.
while it was like this the screen was raked back a bit to keep it as low as possible without looking to radical.
also incoporated a roll over loop into the screen surround.couldnt get normal roll cage size cfs in so went down a size but upped the wall thickness to compensate.
front veiw

side veiw showing the rake

showing how much the roll loop had to curve and infilling the front panels

filling in the inside gaps

started on the inner seal plates next.
these had to be fairly strong due to no roof and having to take the body on and off

fitted

pic shows how the different plates line up with the body lines.ones for the outer lip and the top one lines up for the step plate

new foot plate welded in

fill panel things
