Does anyone know a cheap source for a 37 degree brake pipe flarer.

Going to try the local hire shop/Pirtek but not holding my breath.

Gutted if I have to buy the tool as I only need two ends flared for me new linelock

I know Speedflow hire one out/flare ends but by the time it's all costed I could probably have bought me own tool - missus!

just use a 45 degree flare, if it's copper or cunnifer it's soft enough crush up to the fitting with the tube nut. Use a pipe cutter to trim to length, de-burr the end with a large drill bit, fit your nut and then double lfare the end. Steve Lang did some for me a while back like this, came out nice and works perfect.

I don't believe a double flare is required on seamless tubing for 37 degree fitting.

Yeah, I experimented last nite and a single 45 flare does compress better overall onto the fitting - checked both for 'tell tale' marks under a magnifying glass.

A double flare (being more rigid!?) only contacted on a very small section despite being bolted up real tight working it as i went. Well as tight as you dare go with lightweight AN fittings.

I'm bottling it now, I'm sure it'll be alright but.
Gonna wander down to Pirtek as they keep advertising that they do car stuff now, and/or, bizarrely enough a local barperson is a redundant aircraft fitter so gonna see if he has the tool. :tup:

I'm told a double is required as single flare thins the material. Over time it splits at the edges of the flare. I had a couple split that I replaced. didn't affect the braking but obviously something you want to avoid

I've got a flaring tool kit with many different fittings that I got from an aero engineer.

Do you want me to check what fittings are in there?

thanks for the comments and offer but I've just got some pipes knocked up by Speedflow for peanuts.

I can carry on and worry about something else now! :scared:
