I'm in the middle of re-building my Daimler 2.5 V8, new piston rings, new big end and main bearings.
Shall I soak everything in 20/50's engine oil or should I grease everything? as it may be 4-5 weeks before I get around to putting the heads and sump back on, and I am thinking that oil will eventually drain off the boars and bearings.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks Brian

pop the heads back on using some packing grease to create a seal (avoid smearing in water ways) pop heads on and fill to the brim with cheapo oil the £7 for 5L stuff

You can always put the crank and cam in with red moly paste rather than red lube as the paste will stick and not drip off to the same extent

Thanks for the advice, ordered some engine assembly lube so hopefully starting to put engine back together. Then going to wrap it in cling film until I get my heads back from the engineers. Will keep you posted hope it runs ok this time.
Thanks Brian
