had a couple of zephyr's with 3000 stall convertors, 1 with a 302 and 1 with a cleveland. towed caravans with them too. fitted a bigger tranny cooler to combat the extra heat though. both were fine.
i had a 3000 stall converter in my '35 - i found i had to rev the car quite a lot to get it going. once it was going it was ok, you didnt really notice it. i changed it to something like a saturday night special and found it better.
I run a b&m holeshot 3000 in my nova,
Weighs around 3000lb?
3.08 rear gears with 26" tyres, 75mph @ 3000rpm,
With a fully loaded car and a 1200lb trailer tent on the back i dont think the trans temp went over about 160 deg f,
Using the big b&m stacked plate cooler,
Even with those 3.08s it ran 12.5s, with a 1.85sec 60ft.
Hi plumpcars . I have run a B&M super holeshot in my 57 2dr hardtop for twenty plus years. Just over 3000 stall on 15 inch rims with 235 70 15 tyres. 350 motor th 350 trans, 12 bolt posi with 3.07 gears used to go through the lights in second gear . Best time was 12.7 and terminal speed of 115-119 mph. I personally found it to be very usable on the street as it was a daily driver for 5-6 years. times were set in 1989 and havn't been to a strip since. Ian.
