Seeing as I might be going on a different route with my roof, and as I have just scored a beetle roof complete with headliner in, how can I get it out without killing it???

I have had an idea to use the outer skin and the inner bits (where the headliner attaches to) to make my roof...

But, instead of going at it like a bull in a china shop I thought I'd ask first, if no-one knows I'll just hit it with the 9"...

I'm sure it's held in around the perimeter with a cardboard strip, this is stitched to the head lining, it's poked Ito the slot which this becomes a letter "T" so it locks into place, the rest is held in with metal tabs that hook onto the headlining and then hit to grip it, hope this helps

If it's a 1200 it has the steel bows pushed into the channel. Just push them up and forwards and they will bunch up and come out. If it's a later one it's the same gig apart from all the trim around the doors but you won't have that if you cut the roof off!

Or shall I give up on that idea and just rip it out...???
