I have a Camaro axle ready to install in my 58 Apache, I am running a 350 motor with TH350 transmission. I am not going racing and would like to drive it everyday. The axle I have is a 10 bolt 8.5" with a 2.41 ratio, which I think maybe is to high. I am just thinking if I need to change the ring & pinion I should do it before I install it.

It took me ages to find this axle so it has to be easier to sort this one if I need to rather than find another.

Any advice would be good..

2012-07-27 08.32.01.jpg A long time ago I built a 67 camaro with a 350/350 combination using a 2.77:1. It spent all the time 'on the converter' and did about 12 mpg. When I sold it the new owner went for a 3.54:1 and then got 25 mpg!! If I was to do it again I'd use a 700R4 and 3.54:1, or go very modern and use a LS1/2/Vortec 5.3 with a 4L60 E. Factory reliability and outstanding mpg/hp. Not that difficult TBH.
