I have just rebuilt the brake caliper on my (82) 6 series BMW daily driver and was unsure what torque setting to use on the two halves of the caliper. It is a four pot caliper in two halves with a spacer between the two halves(two pistons in each half). I have torqued it up to 50lb/ft on 8mm socket head bolts. Unfortunately there is no workshop manual available to my knowledge. Any help or guidance appreciated as I have the other three to do.

I guess when you say '8mm' you're talking about the allen key size?
So they'd probably be 10mm bolts. In which case I'd say 40-45 lbs/ft. 50 is a bit high but probably OK given that they're likely to be good quality bolts.
