Is it possible to buy a car aerial that doesn't have to be fitted to the outside of the car? if so how do they work & where do you get them? I just don't want to fit one to the exterior bodywork if I can help it, cheers....Nige

I have mounted an aerial underneath some of my cars. with varied results.
My high escort had a normal one just mouted of the floor near the back and worked ok.
Also did one a lowered mini, that was a short rubber one and worked really well, have the same on the T but it dosnt work!

I read a similar question on chevytalk, as I wanted 1 for my 57.
In the States they say there not very good & most guys hide a normal aerial with a bit of padding under the rear seat or dash.
Never looked into it any further, as its still in bloody bits !

For a long time I couldn't work out why the radio in the Zody worked fine, even without a ariel on the car.
Then, when I was ripping out the wiring behind the dash the ariel plopped onto the floor...

If the T is fibreglass then the aerial wont work very well as it needs a ground plane. Some self adhesive metalic pads or a sheet of ali underneath the panel often helps
