What's the easiest way to tell the difference between the 3.8 and the 4.3? I may have one.

Hi there, the 4.3 V6 is a small block Chevrolet v8 with the 2 rear cylinders lopped off, so it looks just like an SBC, water pump and timing cover will look identical. It should have a block casting number at the rear where the bellhousing bolts on, probably 10168588 and some numbers and letters on the front left pad near the front of the cylinder head.
