there was a report on watchdog last night about people sending their licence off to dvla for details changes such as change of address etc and when the licence came back entitlements had been removed. when people tried to sort it out with dvla they are told, tough you have to take your test again. so if you have to send your licence off for any reason make sure you photocopy it first.
Make that "Special Delivery". Despite it's title, Recorded Signed For doesn't provide any guarantee that a traceable delivery and signature will be available
This has been happening for a while, plenty of bike guys have had their licences back and the bike bit had suddenly disappeared, Definitely photocopy anything you send them. Plus keep your SORNs safe, and mark your SORN dates on your calendar (I do it just after every New Year - too much stuff to keep track of otherwise), cos if for whatever reason your reminder doesn't come through, the first you know about it is when the fine arrives....
Another thing to do with the DVLA, it has been mentioned elsewhere. Check plastic licences for dates of renewal. Most people think they run for ever, they don't. Firat you know is the fine for driving without a valid licence.
Well remembered, they only run for ten years before renewal is required, and have been in use just over 10 years now, so everyone will need to start renewing soon.
Glad I still have the old type
