Hi I have just bought a project and need to identify what engine and gearbox it has
As I need to buy parts for the gearbox ie the seal is leaking where the prop shaft fits
I know it's a ford v8 but from what car I don't know ?
Thanks Andy

if the duraspark dizzy is original to it then 70's on age wise. so probably a 302 then (351 are wider than in your pics). that's 5.0 litre in english.
as for parts, real steel are fairly close and usually keep a good stock of parts for them.

yes c4, c6 or an fmx came behind some small blocks too. to tell the difference between boxes - c4 and fmx have seperate bellhousing while c6 is integral to main case. c4 has ally main case whereas fmx has cast iron main case.

Take a look at the sump pan. The C4 has a rectangular pan , others are shown here Ford Transmission Pan Shapes . If you really want to date the engine there is a number cast into the block , hidden behind the starter motor that can be decoded.
