The one on gum tree has been about years, pretty shock apart from the rear wheels tyres,I'm pretty sure it has been shown in Street Machine or Custom Car mags....must be twenty odd years ago....

The pics of the brown one on Gumtree were taken at a previous owners house here on Skye. I have known this car for about 17yrs and it does have the correct no. I have pics that I took from back then. I also made some enquiries about it on the NSRA site some years ago and traced it back to the mid 80s from a show in Wales (I think). I guess the blue one must have been a clone. Strange how they are both in Fife.

Oh! Fastrodder, you are right it has never been altered.

Charlie.

I know now that it could be a clone now , but cant understand how when I bought mines it was taxed and had a mot certificate / some body must of had a v5 for it , just done hpi check with number plate number again and has came back with the engine number shown ( whats in mine ) and states 3500cc , so surely it should have came up 1100cc , , ive been scammed , lot of money lost so far , dvla r a pain , as I think both cars should have ben checked out a go back to previous owners to find out who did what , mean time my loss

The car may have been on SORN and someone just applied to DVLA for a V5 probably with bogus sale details then once they have the V5 in their name they just applied to change engine details, the MOT and TAX is easy after that, the thing is the DVLA must have the details of who applied for the V5 and they are undoubtedly the people responsible for cloning the car so would have thought it was an easy collar for the old bill but probably to much trouble for them.

It's not the first time and it won't be the last . ACE has been involved with several stolen identity rods. Not everyone involved in this scene is a good guy

It will be untraceable , trust me, I know how this is done and the people doing it know how not to get caught.

have you been to the police to try to sort this. i applied for a logbook for an escort based kitcar i bought some time ago. ended up the escort shell that 'was scrapped' had been built back up and was on the road. i bought the kit as unfinished and the guy had never got a logbook in his name so didn't know. both had to be inspected (by the police) and obviously the escort kept the id. i got a 'q' though so at least it was useable. maybe worth a try.
