Hi
what would cause petrol to squirt out of the hole on the side of the top part of a holleymechanical fuel pump. Have taken it off but there is no split or anything wrong with the diaphram that i can see.
Any thoughts please
Best

Is that the one which comes apart? I'd say the gasket may have a split in the area of that screw hole. The gasket on those are integral with the diaphram so its either a new diaphram/gasket or you might get away with a small dab of silicone RTV around that hole. Be careful to snug up the screws gradually working your way around two or three times until they are all tight and see if the silicone cures the leak.

Hi and thanks it is the one that comes apart.
no the rubber gasket is not split or punctured around the screws or where it joins the metal in the centre.. I cannot figure out where it is leaking from but petrol is leaking through. I presume the hole it's squirting from is there to draw in air so the diaphragm can work. It is also an intermittent fault. It can happen on idle or when revving.
any more thoughts
