can anyone tell me how much oil for a 87-92 305 chevy engine please
I've broken the dip stick to i need to know how much oil to put in please

Try a google search. Apparently approx 5-5.5qrts with a filter change

won't is vary depending on the sump, many of which will it be standard?

Never mind Google, get on to eBay and buy a new dip stick !

yeah but there are some different ones for sale

my tube is broken about 3 inches or so down but it site lower which is good for me as it puts it out of the way a little
so the plan is to five the tube a clean cut then re mark and cut down the dipstick once i know where the level should actually be

US qrts are different to ours .

So the stick is ok but the tube is broke.Mark the dipstick down the length the distance that the tube broke and that should give you the readings for the oil level in the sump.

Hi bud. When I was searching for a new one there seemed to be quite a few different ones. Maybe someone could tell me how much longer the dip stick is than the tube.

Depends on what sump you have fitted and if your tube is the long one or the normal sized one as a base size too!

The one I have somewhere is the long one from a van/truck which brings the ring pull to the edge of the drivers rocker

The end bit should be a similar size though so if I find it I can measure it

The engine is early nineties camaro I believe

From tip to bottom of hash lines is 31mm to full mark is 57mm so you have 26mm between the marks

Oh you want the tube length not the stick


Tube is 300mm to the top of the manifold mounting tab then 250mm to the end of the tube on the long dip stick version

that is on the one I have which was an old 1980's TPI engine with the lengthened dip stick for easy access
