How do I get a V5C when I only know the reg number, engine number and part of the chassis number.

Does anyone know how I can get the chassis number or the best way to get a V5C.

Cheers

Change of owner, so first time to register to me. I don't know the previous owner or their address.

HI Kapri,

I have a V62 but I noticed it says next to the box where you should fill in the chassis number "If you do not give this information, it will be returned to you"

Will a covering letter help?

It's a Caterham that had an engine fire and the alloy with the chassis number on it was thrown out. On the metal chassis the caterham frame number is stamped on it and I know that this is used as part of the chassis number for dvla.

Would a HPI check give me it?

I know it's not a hot rod but as soon as I have a log book it's getting sold to fund my pickup.

Cheers

Can I take it for a VIC check. If so it would only be loosely bolted together would that be ok?

Thanks for replies and Pms.

Got the chassis number now and the form in the post to DVLA.

Kapri said they'll contact the previous owner to check I have the right to the log book, how long will it take for my log book to be released?

Cheers
