Bulgaria is in the EU isn't it? Girlfriend imported her ride from Italy with no real probs. Make sure you get hold of whatever goes for a registration document there.
It being the EU, there's no duty, but the thing to watch out for seems to be VAT, which apparently has to be payable on the sale/value in one or other country; so, if you can point to a piece of paper that says that you paid Bulgarian VAT when you bought the car, you won't have to pay 17.5% (after Jan 1st) when you register it here.
