what originally went in that flat bit mark? ford must've left it flat for a reason. i'd still have added a bit though,lol. re the cross, you could've made it a single rib like the other side rather than the rib into a cross? i'm only joshing with you mate ;)

maybe one of the brackets for the vacuum tank?

It could be where the vacuum tank sat Neil, maybe that's why there is a flat section there.

Spent a few more hours on it today. More filler & more sanding, lol. Roof on drivers side is completed I think and ready for primer and the A posts are almost there.

We discussed yesterday that we needed a mounting point for the brake 4 way union, (it was fixed to the inner wing before) so I cut a peice of 8mm bar and tapped a 6mm thread in it. It then got welded to the chassis (and filler added to blend it nicely in photo);



Union bolts to it like this;



and I also stripped most of the paint off the other inner wing;



After that I treated some of the inner wing and a lot of the underside of the car with Hydrate 80.

185 hours.
