I want to lower the front of my van by 1 1/2" but my insurance company have stated no cut coils and they want a bill/report that have been done professionally... so whats the alternative, what sort of cost are we talking and any recommended firms, possibly in the Essex/East London area

What motor is it as some coils swap between others to lower them.

Get lowered coils new. Do not under any circumstances heat them up so they sag under the weight of the car to achieve the drop. Yes popular back in the day & still being done but considering you dont have any idea what effect the process has had on the metal & you have no idea of the new spring rate just buy new. I cant see them being more than 40 quid each.

Thanks for the responses, the van is a 1989 MK3 transit 100, almost the lightest one and Im led to believe that the 80 and the 100 have the same coils. I fitted a cologne v6 2.8i from a granny (originally a 1.6 pinto), but she's still a little too high up front after fitting a custom made bumper...
