I can honestly say that since I really became aware of Man United in 1968, I have never seen such an embarrassing display. That was painful to watch. Well done Barca, you were terrible as well, but deserved to win. In my opinion.:wanker:

I know that.
I just hate football is all.
I can't seem to get away from people wanting to talk about it.
It's a shame when even a car forum can't offer me refuge.

And it's one l in below. :incheek:

The whole thing was a sham - Platini's 'Dream Final' was shot down in flames - I don't know one footy fan - and I include United, Gooners, Scoucers, Spurs who didn't think our semi was a fix and we should have been there - even Barcas muted celebrations at the final whistle (not after the trophy) suggest THEY knew they shouldn't have been there!

Wouldn't surprise me if United 'phoned' in a performance on purpose knowing that had they got in front, sinister forces would have quickly redressed the balance!

Our game at the Bridge was worthy of a final - they had 1 shot in 93 minutes against 4 legitimate penalty claims - one maybe two I'll buy as a game that will even itself up... Not FOUR!!!

It was rubbish!

Roll on Saturday - weather will be perfect and we have an open top Routemaster picking us up in Fulham Broadway at 9am for much drinking and merriment before the Final!

You'll love me then Lee!!

Contrary to other comments made on here and from a neutral point of view i thought the game was a joy to watch and an excellent example in the art of ball retention with a high pass completion.Indeed the tape could be used to help young players with the learning of such skills.Man Utd,on the night wer'nt so much poor, but instead were only allowed to play as well as they did, by a fabulous Barca midfield, and make no mistake that was where the game was won and lost.
Guardiola must have danced a jig when handed the team sheet and saw Ryan Giggs was in the middle.Although Giggs has been played there many times, and great player though he is,he is not a natural central midfielder. On this occasion he was obviously in there to use his brain for distrubution, and it might well have worked if only he'd had someone like Hargreaves nearby who could crunch & sit instead of the hapless Anderson.
Barca's midfield played with a high tempo, they were adept at denying space when not in possession, closing down quickly in units, not just singularly, and when this is done well it makes things very difficult for opposition teams to find any rhythm. If you watched the action away from the ball, you'd have seen on winning possession, not only did 2 or 3 players always give angles, but quickly they made sure they had an extra man square, in the middle third as another outlet, with the emphasis on ball retention when attacking the final third.
TV viewing fans often dont realize the immense amount of energy expended, particularly in humid conditions, constantly roaring around just trying to win back the ball, and when subjected to this for longer periods it breeds frustration and fatique. That's when ideas dry up and decision making becomes poor.Did you witness, for example Scholes, putting in what kindly commentators call a "strikers challange"? he was fortunate to stay on for that. Poor John O' Shea,at times looked all at sea when faced with the subterfuge of Iniesta & Xavi.Have a look at the second goal, it was'nt all about Rio going missing, but for me, more about the majesty of 4ft Messi's movement. The only surprize to me on the night was that 2-0 did'nd become 3 or more, for you knew that they'd become bereft of ideas when they started lumpin' it long to the Croxteth Blue hoping for him to wave a magic wand...Still never mind eh......sorry bout all that,i dont as a rule talk much about football on forums, you probably see why......i can go on.

I am pleased it was only 2.0, could have been so many more. I sat there waiting for the old Man U to kick in....it just didn't happen. To me, they just didn't have their hearts in it. I look forward to Danny Welbeck and Federico Macheda maturing enough for first team placement and Fraser Campbell coming back from his loan at spurs to hopefully shake things up. I have no idea why Berbatov even gets a game, he is so laid back its a joke.

The texts and emails started at 5am my time from so called friends in the UK rubbing it in. see below.

An excellent analysis which even more highlights just how incredible were at Stamford Bridge - such a shame the ref was bent that night!

I posted this Yahoo early this morning:

Hmmmm.... The 'Showpiece' Final eh? A dour game livened up by two magnificent goals... from a team who should never have been there! Two schools of thought here i) United treated the competition with the contempt it deserves and went through the motions to get it over and done with ii) Barca really did make United look like 'boro in which case it makes Chelsea's 2 games look sensational, the second of which worthy of the Final itself! Richard Keys et als suggestion that Barca 'broke Chelsea's' hearts... Erm, no they didn't - we had three maybe four penalty decisions NOT GIVEN before they scored and 1 after... We were well and truly shafted by UEFA then told 'the ref had a Stinker'... The Platini's and Patrick Barclays will be happy, they've had their 'Dream Final' and got the 'correct' result. They can Eulogise over Messi (yes thats right, the same Messi who wasn't 'allowed' to play by Chelsea) and paw over this 'great' Barcelona team.

Me? I'm off to watch a good, honest English FA Cup Final at Wembley... one for which UEFA cannot taint with their outpourings! And may the BEST team win... Not the chosen team!

Win or Lose, Up The Blues....

Stew , the conspiracy theory about the semi holds water until you remember that the ref sent a Barca player off ?
I thought Utd went there with an arogant frame of mind expecting to beat a team knocked by injurys , that's why at the end they didn't look upset , no tears , just shell shock ? What do you recon ?

I don't think it was as blatant as that - the Norwegian was sent home from Euro 2008 in disgrace - he knew he had to do as he was told which in my opinion, from Platini was "Watch Chelsea, you know what their like, Barcelona will run rings round them so don't be fooled in to giving them any penalty's... we don't want a repeat of Euro 2008 or thats it for you" etc etc etc

Basically saying if you give anything, you won't ref these big games again!

I personally don't think it was a sending off BUT 2 other Barca players should have gone prior to that!

Its done now - I don't think I'll bother with the CL next year!
