if a car has w/wipers does it need water washers fitted? for mot. or can you just have a sqeezy bottle.

hi ,what i used in my splitty was a washing up bottle lay on it side on the dash piped up to the water jets and the mot man say yes,no problems..

being a class 4 and 7 mot tester , yes a sqeasy bottle is fine ,:tup:

hi if a car was never fitted with washers when it was new it doesnt have to have them fitted so my mot tester told me when i first motd my edsel i had. but if it did have them when it left the factory it must have them and they must work.

If a car has a fixed screen it does need washers, even if it didn't have them as new, it's one of the few things that doesn't have an age cut off.

As those above I've got away with a squeezy bottle in the past, or you could take out the screen for the test - you don't need washers or wipers then!

I will try a spray bottle if the mot man says NO. I will take the roadsters screen off.

If it's an opening screen, or you can see over it, then you don't need washers or wipers.

My lada had a plastic bag you squashed to get wash, I soon fitted a propper bottle when I got hold of it.

only don't need washers and wipers if it is an opening screen, as i found out last mot. Had to take the screen off the roadster as it has neither wash or wipe or is opening so was a failure.

Well, I had to fit washers to my '55 to pass the MOT. Real pain too! The small jets are there, but blocked, so I cut a pair into the grill in front of the screen. Plus a flat bag on the inner wing. Got the kit from Wheels day for about £10 from a company in Guildford
