Been asked to paint a chop. Basically the effect wanted is candy green over flake. Does anyone on here use waterbased paints? Looking for experience/reports with the heavy sparkles and the like.
Could flake it but hate the way the bleedin' flake lurks around my place for ages afterwards... so thought about alternatives.

The base would be 2k epoxy and high-build. Plus any other primer/promoter the waterbase might want(?).

A good while back I saw a test where someone painted a panel with waterbase gold. Then later painted a big "X" right across it. The X was invisible... Thats attactive to me because my home setup means there's always a chance of bit of grit or mank landing. Does that tale hold true?

not sure on the waterbased paint as I've never used it but if I we're painting this I'd use a silver basecoat tinted with green toner, put silver flake over the top, rub it back and add a couple more clear coats, then tint the whole lot with a reduced light candy coat (build the coats) followed by more clear to finish and polish. The coloured base lessens the risk of tiger strips with the candy and silver flake knocked back then tinted lessens the risk of rubbing through the candy to the flake.

Cheers but I want to try an alternative to flake really. Less mess and less layers/film build, plus the curiosity side of it. Will probs get some of the little airbrush-size w/b bottles and try a few things out on spare tanks and things.
