Hi I have rebuilt my small block chevy and I have been trying to priming the oil pump, I was told to do it until oil appears at the rockers. I am getting loads of oil appearing on both the rockers on number 1 and 7 cylinders some on number 5 and none on any of the others despite turning the priming tool with a drill for about 5 minutes. Any advice would be welcome I don't want to run the engine if there is going to be an issue.

Thanks Steve

Yes there is definitely resistance on the pump. It is almost a new pump (less than 1000 miles), the lifters are the same about 1000 miles on them but I have no idea of the age of the push rods but they are all clear.

turn the crankshaft 1/4 turn and prime again, repeat another 1/4 turn and so on. you should then get oil up to all rockers.
