Cheers Dan Boy, the car looks better in pics than in the flesh ,quite a bit of touching up mainly underneath and it needs a cut and polish ,today I’ve sorted all the wiring to the column and everything still works which is a bonus, still got to sort out the side/ head lights and relays for the fans, I’ve even got a timed off interior light(how modern is that), next week filling and painting the front end, cheers ,see ya.

Update time, I installed the dashboard 9488F843-9136-4586-83E9-64DB2C674A83.jpg did this so I could start on wiring the gauges, just waiting for the warning lights for high beam/ignition/indicators,all to fit original holes, and mini headlight switch arrived today so I can crack on with getting them working, 01317616-35E9-4DC6-8945-03DF55BC291F.jpg and a pic of the new rear silencers with the DB killers welded and fitted in the tailpipe, sounds a lot better now it's quieter, all the gauges are Smiths classics and I'm looking at an electronic speedo with Hall effect pickup (Santa may be bringing them).

This weekend has been productive, after filling and rubbing down the 5 front panels for 3 day last week and a final fill and rub down on Saturday, I painted them in high build primer yesterday, 2EAF94DC-8065-49B3-BAB6-0F2E73B51020.jpg all the panels needed some form of repair, the grille had crash damage to the near side and rot on the bottom , but I've resurrected it and if I say so myself I did a good job, C32990C7-34D3-46C9-8BC8-FDCB2DB664D8.jpg I also welded up the badge holes, the bonnet side panels have taken a lot of work, I've removed the catches and made it bolt on plus gapped it to the other panels which took time, the car was driven out and back in which was nerve racking, working at sons this week decorating abed room into a play room for the granddaughter, so hopefully final rub down and top coat at the weekend if our lass agrees as I was in the garage for 6 hours yesterday and she wasn't happy.

Cheers Dan Boy ,the side panels took the most work, can’t wait to see how they look in colour, then just 4 doors /2 running boards /repaint rear wings ( not happy with the filling preparation) / bonnet( that’s going to take some work )/ front wings, oh the joys of car building.

Hi not done much of late ,been working again, I have got small things done though,I finally got around to checking the torque converter fitment( it’s been on my mind for a while now), and found that the converter drain bolt wasn’t in place so I disconnected the engine and moved it forward 1 inch so I could turn the converter through the starter hole , all back together now and also fitted the nos kick down cable, I’ve also had the headlights blasted and now painted in satin black until I get round to painting again, cheers for now and have a great Christmas if possible

As you can see I've done some bits ,the headlights were rusty chrome so I had them blasted and I did a temporary paint job until I paint the next batch in body colour, then I spent around 3 hours yesterday wiring up the dash gauges into its own loom.
Just need Santa to bring my speedo so that can be added to the loom ,and then that part is finished,

Thanks blackpop, it’s coming together and still work in progress, plugged it in the car and fuel gauge and volt meter work so do indicator lights, just waiting on a voltage stabiliser to arrive for the oil and water gauges, still trying to work out the Sierra column light switch wiring, cheers.

Cheers, I’ve got mini rocker switch to turn on side lights then headlights but need Sierra switch for dip then high beam and also flash, so need to connect the 2, it’s making my head hurt trying to sort it out and might have to enlist the help of someone who knows what they are doing, but I’ll get there in end ,

can't you use a floor dipswitch? and a button strategically placed for headlamp flash? or just replace the sierra stalk with a common (cheap) mk1 escort type stalk that's readily available from car builder solutions etc.
neil.

More bloody wiring!, I have now made a small separate loom for the speedo and now need to make an x shaped bracket to fasten it in place using the original prefect bolt holes ,then I looked at loads of wiring diagrams for the Sierra switches and found mine is from a 1990 on model, and after 3 1/2 hours we have a couple of looms that should work, it took a while to work out that the dip/ high/ flash switch is a switched earth from the side / headlight switch.

I've also received and fitted the voltage regulator so the oil pressure and temp gauges should work now, I've now got my fan heaters on warming up the garage as it's freezing out, today's jobs are to wire up the inhibitor switch relay, starting to connect the light switches and make the speedo bracket, cheers.
