If you have been to Portugal you have probably haven't see any hot rods or custom cars. That is because the laws concerning cars are very strict. In a simple form, you can't modify anything!
Some modifications are permitted but it always involves lots of bureaucracy, time and money.

So all the old cars are either restored to origin (which is expensive..) or end up in fields, barns or scrapyards.

R.I.P. Rust in Portugal is a blog I created to show all the rusty classics that could have at least made some cool rat rods.

I remember going on holiday to portugal as a kid around 92, and the amount of cars dumped at the side of the road was unreal, the most common being beetles, mk1 escorts and reanult 4's, plenty were stripped, i bet you won't find the mk1 escorts there now like that.

A lot has changed since 92, it's much harder to find any old cars abandoned on the side of the road.
In the last few years there has been a program where you get money for your old car (much more than most are worth) when you buy a new car and thousands of old cars have been crushed.

I saw this parked up by a roundabout last week near D`olhus Agua in Portugal....I tried to find the restaurant advertised on the sides, but did not come across it.It is a pretty solid rust free truck, it has a small block and auto box.

The "1961 Chevrolet hearse" is a 1960. It'd look lovelly lowered over 17" Torque Thrust II's............
Thats the one that took my fancy, until the van was posted. Actually, a couple of us were talking about going over for a drive around a couple of months ago after one of our mates came back and said he saw 5 mk1 escorts parked in fields at a farm.
