Hi chaps

I’m returning an 8” Ford axle it’s covered in surface rust as are the brake backing plates , I was going to soft pad the axle, prime and then paint (not sure what paint to use though) the backing plates are very rusty but solid, any ideas how to remove / kill / neutralise the rust, the plates are a bit fiddly to get the rust off by mechanical means. Acids ?

De-Ox by Bilt Hamber. It’s available in a crystal format that you dissolve in water. Immerse the parts for 24 hours and it leaves them sand-blast clean. It isn’t cheap but works well, I use it a lot. Available online (Amazon, EBay etc).

Hi there, It has been said that I love rust. But I know it's not good everywhere especially working parts and where it cannot be seen in all it's ratty glory.
Here you go this is what I purchased and not that expensive. I cannot see it in my eBay history so I may have bought direct.

This should help you.

Cheers Dan
