hi

trying to start my sbc for the first time
the dizzy is new 2 wire electronic
i have wired in a ballest resistor but do i need it ?
and - side of coil does it need to go to earth

i have oil pressure
i have fuel pressure
leads in correct order
not 180 out

Is ballast not normally for use with coil? I don't think I've seen one on a dizzy. Can you not look at fitting instructions on the dizzy vendors web site?

If the distributor is a HEI type, the 12V (no ballast resistor needed) ignition connection goes to the + terminal. The other terminal is for an electronic tacho. The distributor doesn't need a separate earth connection.

no sorry ballast resistor is next to coil

its ok i have worked it out and got it running
