probably not, most of them fit under a stock cover.......it depends on the brand really, you would need to check with the manufacturer

As biff said ................. i have one on mine under an aftermaket chrome cover

If you think about it if you needed a bigger cover then the water pump wouldnt fit without spacers BUT make sure you fit a cam button in the middle of the cam sprocket

Gear drive

350 SBC, if I install a geardrive in place of the timing chain, do I need a different front cover (Deeper)?

Thanks.
Hello Russ.... yes you could use stock timimng cover........ BUT a new ally timing cover is highly recommended for gear drive app's with roller cam button & dual idler thrust pin... a none flexable alum cover highly recommened
Also it is very important to insure gear drives are well lubed via a .032th oil hole in centre oil galley plug just behind cam gear will do the trick.
My 2 cents / 1.6 pence Dr.Dee
