Sbc engine with pertronix electronic module instead of points in a mallory distributor. Launch the car hard n it bogs down. So im thinking the plug gap should be altered, now some sites say as much as 45 thou others less.
what do you fine people think?
also what about the timing?

sort your timing first (assuming plugs, leads and dissy in good shape) plug vacuum advance and aim for 36 degrees total advance, hopefully it will still idle! Mine idles at 18 degrees. if you want more advance try another 2 degrees but if you get any detonation under load take it out again. If you can adjust the mechanical advance in the ditributor it gives you scope to add initial advance but the all in advance is always 38 give or take a few, as much as you can without pinking. Note rpm when you reach max timing, hopefully it reaches max timing before 3000rpm, if it is still bogging look at the fuelling side

Thanks for the quick reply. Shouldnt be fuelling as it has had an ezi injection system fitted recently.
