I sold my Rod last week and she has been taken away today on the back of a trailer.

She is going to a nice new home and I have been promised that she will be lovingly looked after. I have 'checked out' the new owner and he seems perfectly lovely and I am confident he will look after her.

When she was driven off down the road I felt a wave of loss come over me. My daughter had tears in her eyes which made me well up - just a little bit! We had a big cuddle in the drive.

How have you felt when your prized car has been sold? Was it like losing your best friend or were you really pleased that you managed to get rid of it?

I have sold my Rod to buy a Roadster. [I have updated my profile page, so please take a look if you wish to]. The Roadster is the car I have always wanted, but, at the moment I don't feel too happy. :sniff::sniff::sniff:

I can honestly say Caroline, that so far I have managed to keep hold of every car and bike I've ever owned, that I wanted to keep that is! I sold a 45 Harley and regretted it straight away and then it came back to me a little while ago. I bought a rod before Christmas but fate returned it to it's owner, without any regret, I never had time to bond with it ;) And well, the Cadillac's a bit like Christine, I think it owns me......that night I drove it for what I thought was the last time, well, I don't think he was lettin' me go :)

So, yeah, I guess the 45 I shed a tear when it went but it went to a really nice guy who a little while ago found himself in a situation where he needed to sell it and he asked that if I ever wanted to sell it again, could he have it back. I think it's karma :D I couldn't sell it to anyone else...

I regret selling my 61 Impala coupe, it was such a nice original car and I would have loved to keep it with the 59 as company. Also regret selling my 58 Chevy Yeoman 2-door wagon which I bought way back in 1977, long before wagons were cool. Maybe one day they'll find their way back home, lol.

Maybe I'm the complete opposite here, but I totally regret selling my Escort diesel estate and my CBR 600.
I never touched the pair of them, but ran the buggers into the ground over many thousands of miles (over 250,000 on the escort) and they never cost me a penny.

I like too many things to keep hold of the others for too long, so that might be the reason.

I guess it depends on the reason for selling?

I had to sell the 45 because I just couldn't kick start it anymore.......grrrrrr I hate being a girl sometimes......then thought sod it! I just take ma man with me....beats riding on your own anyway .....so that's that problem solved :D

Bought a Nissan Figaro....don't ask why.....I've never been so happy to see the back of that hateful little bit of tin......that was a day to celebrate!!!

And the rod went back to someone who loved it, more than I did, so I felt real happy about that

I won't include daily drivers because I never miss any of them. Other cars are a bit different. It usually takes me so long to finish them that by the time they're road legal I've kind of fallen out with them if that makes sense? Using my latest (60 Impala) as an example, its taken me 7 years to get it to near-perfect and the love has just gone. Can't describe it really. I think some of it has been down to not being able to get the damn thing to run properly and also a lack of time to use it/work on it. But I've currently got someone interested and if it goes, the only sad bit will be seeing an empty garage.

... I crashed my pro-street ford pop into a tree after only having done a couple of hundred miles in it, after a nine year build.

watching that being dragged (literally) onto the back of a low loader on its way to scrap yard was pretty harsh. :(

sold a few with no regrets but i do regret selling my husky but i think its in a good place and i seriously regret selling one of my 100e escorts as all the plans i had for it and the guy i sold it to was king of the bodgers and now i have it back its partway through a complete rebuild and i mean complete.
but the one i would buy back without a hesitation is my old mk2 tina gt estate loved it and sold it for a stupid reason.

Recently i have had to sell cars on due lack of work slowly getting worse. In the past i've still got htrough a few motors though and had around 25 cars and 10 bikes. Once i have worked on them and got them how i want i've got bored of them and moved on to something else. There are so many cars i've always wanted and so little time to own them all. I don't shed tears over losing them, just get excited about the next one!
