Bad week of motoring for me. I know the engine in my Anglia is tired and needs to come out to put a new set of rings in. It's fouling the plugs with oil and I think this is what's making it spit back so much and caused the fire in the engine bay. It's not been running great since and I think it's got some fire extinguisher crap down the carburettor barrels. I went over to mate's house to lend a hand the other night and bent the exhaust on a speed bump and it's blowing. And it's lost the back manifold bolt which is impossible to get to. Two annoyances, well actually three, but I'm pulling the engine out next week so I can live with it for the last journey across London this week to pick up my tools.

Except this morning I went down to wire brush the plugs, which is getting a bit tedious but this is technically the last time, checked the fluids and the clutch cylinder was empty. Strange, that was new parts. Anyway, no clutch, I think where I've not kept an eye on the levels and the clutch has bedded in its slipped past that point where you get an air bubble in there. Really annoying because I wanted to pick up my tools today. I can't be bothered to fix it today, I've done enough spannering now so it can wait until the engine is out and I'll put the upgrades on as well and it'll all be better.

Bloody old cars :(

Would those updates be starting with a silly pair of carbs???

Washing up liquid makes a good substitute for clutch fluid as a getya home emergency... foams a little when you bleed it.
Wouldn't recommend it for brakes though. Boiling points and all that.

As a fellow 105E owner you have my sympathies. Mind you mine has all of 39bhp bless it. Then I keep looking at the downdraught manifold and Webers sitting in my kitchen, the 1500GT engine in the garage and think hmmm.
