Quick question , our gas cooker seems to be giving off a smell when it's on? All jets seem to burning bright blue as normal . Time to panic ?

I'm not a fitter but turn them all off then light 1 at a time and see when the smell happens as it could be a burner.If it smells see if it's from the connection at the back.

Kev, i,m not a qualified gas fitter, but i have worked with one, it could possibly be the control valve,[ie, the knob that turns it on and off] a simple soap test [bit of washing up liquid and water] on each control valve should find any leaks, you may have to remove the fasia panel to gain access to them, failing that, get a professional to have a look. hope this is some help.

ps start with the most used one, as its normally the 1st to fail.

It's every burner and oven. Just been online and checked and there's lot of threads about it smelling like that when when you've just been painting with oil based paints ( which we have ) ? The smell was familiar but couldn't place it until it mention parafin on line.!
