If you do not have correct, or sufficient documentation to prove a barn find or imported vehicles age then DVLA will only accept proof from the manufacturer or an Authorised Club.

The list of these can be found here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/list-of-vehicle-owner-clubs

The attitudes of various clubs vary tremendously and many simply will not authorise a vehicle that has been modified in ANY way , even if within the current 8 point system guidelines.

There are several clubs that will authorise vehicles that are modified with Co-eval modifications .That means mods that were commonplace within 10 years of the end of production of that vehicle.

The new definition of Historics , yet to be published in its new form ,seemed to imply that only Contemporaneous modifications would now be allowed .That means only if the actual mods were done in period rather than out of period recreation as is currently allowed.
