so, i go to my mate dave at my local hotrod club, he gives me a valuation of £25k and its all good?

i suspect not!

last time i tried, NSRA do valuations, but only after you have taken out their insurance scheme (classic line).

NASC scheme is run by RH Specialist insurance! (well according to their website) so who do i get the valuation from? surely you have a list of approved/accepted people you accept valuations from??

or can i only get agreed value via the NASC scheme?

not trying to be a pain, but just trying to clarify. after all, most here will be looking for limited mileage, agreed value insurance for their modified classics! so we need to know where the agreed value valuation can be obtained.
Hello,

If you are not a member of a club, and/or cannot obtain a valuation from a club, then we recommend that you approach an independent vehicle valuer. Unfortunately RH cannot recommend specific valuers to customers as this could cause a conflict of interest in the event of a total loss claim.

Contact Maurice Takour - he does independent valuations for a modest fee and is recognised by classic line and the NSRA. He sorted out mine a few years ago - he'll need full vehicle details and good quality photographs from all side of the vehicle etc. He's on here somewhere I think - he specialises in supply of wheel studs etc

well my mate phoned to get a quote for his 1960 Mercury and it met a dead end as the knowledgable girl on the phone told him a 1960 Mercury does not come with a 7 litre engine. So, not a good start as we we've been with Footman James for 20 years and they are getting too expensive. My mate already has a Zodiac Farnham with RH.
Do we need independent valuations on the cars? His a 1960 Mercury, mine a 1957 Chevy BelAir sedan Both currently insured with Footman James unlimited mileage and 15K guaranteed values on each. Footman James do not require independent valuations up to 15K. If the girl can't find the correct engine in her records, we will have to stay where we are.

Been with these guys for many years... can't fault 'em!

Nice to note positive stuff in this day and age... three cars all covered easily and with real people on the end of the phone!

... and NO -I'm not related! Just a happy customer!

Rich
With a reference like that I'll give them a go soon as I'm due renewal ...be so glad to get away from Flux

Ah, someone else who had enough of Flux ...... they even got back to me having put my mobile number on the Net for a search and found a website I no longer use for business and although my van is off road and garaged the added £300 ....either that or have insured cancelled which i would have had to declare every year ...... they also wanted my engine number or would again cancel ....I paid £75 to a qualified engineer who confirmed the engine and stated the number had genuinely corroded away and to finish it off I had to have the website removed that someone else was actually using ...all this for a stored van !!!!

Been with RH for 10 years! First year was £86, inc roadside assistance & relay. Last year, premium £96, I had the accident, RH sorted it all out and the premium only went up to £165 for the same cover.
I need to up the valuation as this accident was more costly than I expected. It'll be a conversation I'll have sooner than later. I got my valuation through Maurice as well.

Thanks RH!

Hello v8.jimmy,

In order to have an agreed value on the policy we would require a club or independent valuation.

Would you be able to drop me a private message with your contact, address and vehicle details so I can sort out the issue regarding the Mercury engine?

Kind regards,
Scott

funny thing is he's now received a quote WITH the 430 cu in engine, even though the girl said it can't have that engine:beuj: His quote is cheaper than Footman James, but it's not like for like cover and agreed value does have to have an independent valuation, so more cost whcih takes it to the same as Footman James again, so, due to not having time to mess about trying to get valuations on both cars, we will stay with Footman James for another year. I'll try to remember to get a quote from you next year but with more time to play with to sort things out.

Hi madmoggy,

The best I can say (based on the information) is that we may be able to. Could you send me your contact details in a private message so that I can arrange for an underwriter to call you and discuss?

Kind regards,
Scott

Hi Scott it's great too have a direct link to someone on a team in insurance, and thank's for the companies sponsership, hopefully we can educate each other on how things can flow better between us the customer and you the insurer.

Now I was with you last year with my 67 convertible Firebird, at a cost of £106, and I was happy with that, and I was told at the time you could insure my other cars either as they were (resto project's or on the road) which I considered at the time, but the year when I got my renewal at £113 I thought I would insure my Z28 Camaro as well, but the quote came out at £236 for that one for some reason which I thought was a bit high with it being another F-Body just with another name on it and as a part of a "multi car policy" with one named driver and I can only drive one car at a time.

so I got my daughter to phone around (12 companies) which cost a small fortune for other prices and eventually got the same cover with less restrictions for both car's at £265.

Also I tried to get insurance for my brother with you for a 2005 Mustang, the first thing I was told was "that's not a Classic car" ok sorry but it is still specialist? and then the new pit fall "sorry he's not had an insurance policy for an American car in the last 2 years" so we won't insure him. Well he has owed them and driven them but he's just not used them on the road for 10 years, so his insurance money went else where.

I also have a few more cars that are off the road but two more that I would like too insure this year a 68 400ci Firebird and a 80 402ci Firebird Trans Am both are nearing the end of long restorations and will be finished soon, all cars are in a locked compound under cover. if you would like to quote on those I'm happy to come back too you if your close with your price.
