Following on from your "skiving" machine, I saw a bit of The Repair Shop on TV the other day and Suzie Fletcher was using a manual hand-wound machine to thin down some leather for something she was fixing. It looked about 6" wide and didn't look to have a way of just doing the edges like yours.

Back in days of old in the shoe manufacturing business all the work was done standing up except skiving which had to be done sat down, hence the expression of he's a skiver or having a skive. Got a head full of useless information me.:giggle:

i haven't seen it but the leather they use is normally thick saddle / belt leather which can be done on a hand machine but the leather i use is much thinner so doesn't really work on a hand machine .
my machine has adjustable height depth and angle

Bike seats very nice.do you use a specific type of material for doing them
yes and no !!!!!!!!!! there are materials specific for bikes but i can use anything within reason , just down to what customer wants at the end of the day . that vinyl is perfect as its very stretchy as well as being grippy
