Press Ganged by swarthy looking types down by the harbour... okay Krispies... might be too strong a word for it... lets say 'volunteered' to organise a Christmas Bash for us lot!
So here goes:
What we have in mind is a night out with good food, good ale and good entertainment... but mostly, good company!
Nothing has been booked, signed or firmed up - it really is up to the general consensus as to what we do.
The only thing which I feel is pretty solid at this time is the venue:
El Torito in Cobham.
The reason for choosing El Torito is the style of food - kind of Italian/Tex-Mex fusion (yeah, I watch Ramsey!) which is really good and the size of the restaurant - it can take up to 400 people on two levels, huge bar area and very clubby feely sitting areas - but without being at all pretenious in the slightest.
The dates available are before 17th December, 20th - 23rd and 29th and 30th
What the plan is:
3 course dinner with wine (and beer I think - tbc)
Some great live rock n roll music
A teasingly saucy revue or two...
And some laughter
Moneywise, all the money will go to the evening and we'll work to get the best deals possible - obviously the more we spend, the better it will be and I think we should aim to make it a good night with as many people as possible.
Re: the after dinner drinking - I don't know that it's fair to ask everyone to 'chip in' for all the booze as clearly we all drink at different rates... **ahem** - so it maybe all drink up to a certain time then people can buy their own! The licence is until 2.00 am
Also and importantly, there is a hotel across the car park from the resaturant which will offer preferential rates for those that are travelling from afar (or near) who wish to party on down can!
If only 30 or 40 people are up for it, it will still go ahead but obviously we won't have the control of the place/an area and the bands etc but we'll make sure it's a good craic!
I think it should be a dress to impress night 'cos thats more fun and we'll work on a theme and hopefully a few surprises!
In my mind, I'm thinking 150 people, £50-60 per head which should be a hell of a night out but, again, I'll be guided by everyone else if that is deemed too much and we'll cut our coat according to our cloth!
So, it's over to the floor - please register your intrest below with numbers so that we can get an idea of what we need!
As ever, Sam will be in charge of organising/budgeting etc.
ALL THOSE IN FAVOUR, SAY AYE!!!
Cheers,
Stew
(in my best Peter Lorre accent...) Aaaaargh!!! Steve, Stop it... you're hurting my arm....
