budget tune for this is look for a GT head, set of 1100 pistons give a lift to compression, a good cam makes a big difference and these engines are at their best in 1300 cc to make a little screamer, a 285 cam properly dialed in via offset woodruff key is easy to do and if you can find a set of steel rocker posts they are loads better than the standard alloy ones for keeping the valve timing as it should be, standard oil pump is easily upgraded to a higher pressure, fit an electronic ignition to give reliable ignition timing and with the decent twin choke webber mentioned in an earlier post these are great and really reliable motors, of course the best tune is to fit a 1600 GT and start from there
