Pre-Yanks Weekend Update #3
Supercharge your imagination at Yanks
With the Yanks Weekend just around the corner, Supercharged Outlaw organiser Dave McKenzie brings us up to date with all the news about who's appearing in round two of the seven race series.
"This weekend sees the show hit Shakespeare County Raceway and the tracks annual Yanks weekend, incorporating Gary's Picnic for all serious American car enthusiasts. The Supercharged Outlaws will be fielding ten cars at this event including the debut of Bill Felstead & Jon Best's brand new nitro fuelled Altered. Bill is also sponsoring the event to the tune of £100 to the winner as well as the 'Fester Race Cars Trophy'
There are two more cars making their debuts this weekend. One is the very quick wheelstanding Model T of Andy 'Fadster' Hadfield. Following a winter of modifications this particular 'hot rod' is really starting to fly now running as low as 8.90 at 150 plus mph, and on petrol too!
The third car to make its debut with the Outlaws is the well respected Altered of brothers Clayton and Chris Round. We are really looking forward to seeing Clayton run alongside Lee Gallimore this weekend as it will make for a great photo opportunity capturing both 'red' model T's on the track at the same time. The fourth new entry will hopefully be the long awaited return to the strip for Clive Bush. Clive has built a new Altered and is finishing off the last few jobs as I write.
After the first round held at Santa Pod's Wheels USA, the overall point's leader is defending series title holder Roy Wilding. Roy has spent time over the last two weeks freshening up the Hemi motor of his Hemi Hunter Slingshot dragster so he can go racing this weekend.
Second in points is the newly imported Slingshot dragster of Vic Hammond, and being driven by the very capable Sam Freemen. In fact at Santa Pod Sam drove the car to a personal best of 7.711 seconds at 163 mph, and is far quicker than what the car ran in the USA. Well done guys. However, when the team arrived home they found a cracked rod but, like a true professional team a new set of rods were quickly sourced and the car should be ready to roll come the weekend.
Third in points is Lee Gallimore with the well turned out Red Mist Altered. Lee has a six second tune ready for the car and if the track and weather are with us this could be the weekend that Lee hits the sixes (alongside Clayton would be even better!!). Fourth place is Steve Goode with the awesome Wobble altered. Steve is learning all the time with this combination and ran a very early three quarter shutoff time of 8.3 at Santa Pod a couple of weeks ago. So, he's looking for sevens this weekend. Number five is Paul Watts with the No Easy Pick Up. Paul has had a terrible run of luck of late and this weekend he hopes that will change! Paul travels up from the Isle of Wight for every meeting and if determination won events Paul would win it every time.
Also first time out this year with the Outlaws will be Richard Davis with his immaculate '41 Willy's along with Ian Hanson's well turned out Corvette. Last, but not least is Mark Needham with his mean black Chain Reaction Altered with its wild burnouts and even wilder runs!!
The Supercharged Outlaws always try to put on a good show and this event will be no exception - so you all get down to the Shakespeare County Raceway this weekend. You won't be disappointed do ya hear!
