just started to rebuid my (devon)countryman for the 3rd time ,only had it for 35years but its that old story .took it of the road in 99 to freashen it up and fit the sills of my drag car ,by the time the sills and bulkhead were cut there wasant much holding the floor pan in so its now channeled 3inches.main reason was chassis to ground clearance !!!!!as already slamed by fitting MGB wishbones and shocks.Anyway got put to one side (long boring story)but now have the space to work on it,as I am between jobs atthe mo (anyone need a MOT Tester Malvern area?) had time to strip the doner Vaux Omega .Last 2 weeks fitted the engine and box and just set up diff mounts. So for those that like to know its 30L v6 manual, omega diff, omega hubs made into Dedion rearaxle, front hubs on scratch built arms(this is to keep abs & traction control) with airbags .Plan is for rear clam doors to be remade using VW Type 2 (bay) rear doors as the originals are naff and have no seals.will see if I can post some pics of how it was .

Went to change the clutch master, bugger need to remove or at least move the brake servo. Pedal still okay so left it, if it plays up at least I have the part in stock. Lots of little bits done, found the tax disc and holder from when I bought it so gave it a clean and stuck the alloy ring to screen with tape. Tax disc is 1966 so thought that was fitting as thats the last time we won something at footy! Hoping the wiper motor turns up today but not here yet so suspect its tomorrow, so much for paying 24hrs delivery.

New wiper motor fitted, still blew fuse. Turns out its something to do with park/delay so I just disconnected the 2 wires. Not to bothered about buying a new motor as will need one for the Herferod. Thought about flatting and mopping some paint, recon that thought lasted a nano second and it will have to do. TBH more about the driving than looks.

Well its back home, spot of oil on floor when I looked and I mean a spot. Looks like around oil filter housing/cooler pipes but its so slight when I looked underneath before it was all dry. Bit of a crash coming from the back on bumps, sounds like the jack hitting the cover panel as I forgot to put some foam between them. D had the bloke that remaps at his this morning doing 3 air cons, I have the Yeti booked for next Tues for its remap and its sat over the lift in my unit ready for a service. Lets hope the Countryman makes it back from the weekend!!
Supplies shop in the morning and load up in the afternoon and I will be all set for a good time, come and say hi folks.

I need to get some cards printed with all the info on, went to town this morning and spent a lot of time telling folks what it is!!! Anyway got my supplies for the weekend, just spent an hour and half loading up. Well a bit less as got talking to the block from house at rear of car park! (need them cards!) . Put 80psi in rear bags and it still looks low, need to see how it rides but think tank should go to 120. Eager to go now.

Cracking time was had by all, clutch played up on the way down. Got used to double declutching and only had to start it in first once. Next morning it was still not clearing and then noticed pedal not returning fully, flicked it up and its been fine since!! Had a good natter with Blackpop Mark, tried to find Ian Taxirod but kept missing him . Parked in the top 10 pitch, more to thumb my nose to say LOOK a daily driver on a budget. I hate trailer queens. Anyway knackered, sunburnt and happy.

Home from home for the weekend (okay we went on Thurs) ,Ideal spot as not far to walk to everything as my legs pack up after a bit. Saw some cars I know , bought some T shirts and an air cleaner for the Herferod . Ate to much ,we all went to a very nice Italian restaurant Fri night and had a blow out meal. Time to go and empty the camping stuff back into the garage at home.

Thought the ride was a bit bouncy and harsh but put that down to poor motorway surface, I had 42 psi in front bags but it needs to be 35 or less. Then the one rear bag that was holding air has now got a quick leak, thing is the other bag held it up even with all the camping gear in the back and I could feel no change in handling at normal speed.

Fun this morning, drivers door not unlocking. It was on first catch so in passenger side and open window, stood outside and pushed door closed as best I could and pulled up on locking button, that worked! Left pump running as I drove to the workshop, bugger its blown a pipe off behind switches. I never liked the fact the pipes just push onto switches and only held with a small barb.
Serviced the daily, block came and deleted the EGR and put a tune in it. Extra 50 hp he said so thats 220! Tried it on the way home to overtake a 45mph in a 60 driver, just in 4th and bugger me it gets a gallop on now so will have to watch it overtaking.
Back to the Austin thats now in the workshop, a few things to do tomorrow. Rear view mirror has worked loose on its pivot so need to free up the screw that locks it. That pipe work and a good check over again.

Well the caravan is hardly noticeable apart from the extra weight, only thing was the downpipe to silencer joint lost a bolt and nut and the other one lost a nut. Was a bit noisy driving to the pod, got a bolt and another nut and with the air ride on full lift I could just get to fix it. We were all packed up this morning ready to leave before the rain, 1.30 when we left Pod and I was home for 4. Good job I was following Nick as the wipers packed up as we past Coventry, not to bad as I could see road edge and Nicks trailer has some good side light so stuck to his backside! Biblical rain on the M42 and M5 to Worcester, I followed till they turned off for home . Rain let up so much better driving home, not sure what has failed as the wipers parked lower than normal so might be mechanical fault. Good job the flat screen makes it better to see.
