Finally found it!!!!

Its always the way, if you can't find something, look for something else, and bang, there it is!!!

As promised, several weeks ago, here is Humphrey, in Bunny Girl outfit, taken at The Essex Clubs Run!

Transit on the trailer was a Ford promo vehicle I think, no engine!

Oh, and the red catering car is in the background too.

Image

Found this pic too, while checking something else out.

Ray Irish's Pop, representing the EPF at one of the Southend shows

Image

Nice Capri behind it, and The Sweeney MkIII, great car in its time

the sweeney was an awesome car and demanded respect where humdinger kind of didn't although clearly with the passage of time, both demand and get maximum respect for their part in 'shaping' the hobby!
yeh sweeney was good specially the murals........
Image

but in my mind bill gibbs humdinger was the one for me, first saw it at ally pally 79, (coming to think of it think that was the only time i saw it!!) it got slagged off a lot in an editorial of custom car, caused a lot of controversy i remember rightly.....

Street Racing at Leigh-on-Sea

Did anyone here go "Street Racing" down at Leigh?

I vaguely remember it was on a private strip of road, right down by the water.

Pieces of Eight Zephyr/Zodiac/Consul, was a regular, Norman Wilding?

I used to go with John Hockley in his Pop.

We had to go down a slip road to get onto the site.

May well have been the place to be after the Southend Cruise.

I think it was pre ERIC, so would have been 79/80ish?

There was also a stretch of road by Hanningfield Resorvoir that was used for a while too.

Yes Nick, that looks like the first outings for the EPF. Our sign got a bit battered later on, and a bulldog peed on it at Thruxton!!

err, Transits? waste of space anyway!!!

I have just found some trannies, (can be interpreted anyway you choose), as they are of Bob & Humphrey again, in their school outfits!!!

Plus a stack more negatives, but I can't scan them till I make the next trip back to Essex to see family, (my bruv's got a neg scanner).

I will post some more piccies I found also of various events, yet another stash Including the winners of the Beer Race competition at Skewjack!

Strange how a car that is just going to be so, so slow has the name Rapide! - its a bit like naming the Mustang a Shire or a Corvette a Dinghy! Mind you wasn't there a race oriented mid engined AMV8 powered one around some years back? - as the essex champion for motoring trivia you must know all about that one Kennie Boy?

#34 ·
i know there was a v8 or v6 skoda it out run me at north weald. Mind you so could a load of other cars. I had my leg pullled for ages about that.
there was one racing at north weald in 98, theres mention of it on one of my dvds, & it won!
